 Thais casting votes amid hopes, fear BANGKOK: Thailand general elections after five years being held today 403.6 million voters would possibly be casting their votes.

Forty two parties are participating in the elections. For security 1,70,000 policemen have been deployed.

Despite widespread showers and floods in some areas voters were seen early morning making long queues at the polling stations.

The incumbent Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva of the Democratic Party and Pheu Thai party leader Yingluck Shinawatra are leading the underway hotly contested election.

Thiland people casting votes with many hopes also fear that the supporters of the defeated party might go on protests and burst out in rampage.
