To me Parliament is supreme: President

MULTAN: President Asif Ali Zardari Sunday said he deemed Parliament supreme when compared to judiciary, Geo News reported.

In his interaction with journalists here, the President replying to a question as to what he deemed supreme - judiciary or Parliament, said 'to me Parliament is supreme'.

President Zardari said powers had been transferred to the provinces, as the process of (democratic) evolution continued in the country.

On the issue of revoking the capital punishment, he said the law existed in the Constitution and it would not be altered.

"Even a country like America has the law of death sentence," he pointed out, adding, therefore no change would be made in Pakistani law on capital punishment.
